Advertising, consent and what an account changes

Where advertising loads, the regions that require opt-in, how Global Privacy Control is honoured, and why signing in does not remove ads.

This site carries advertising. This page says where it loads, what consent is required, and what an account does and does not change.

Where advertising loads

Advertising may load on public pages and on the signed-in dashboard. It does not load on the administration console, on the sign-in and sign-up forms, or on the legal and policy pages.

The credential forms are excluded for a reason worth stating plainly: an advertisement beside a password field is the same shape a phishing overlay takes, and no revenue argument outweighs that.

Consent

Analytics is opt-in in every region. A visitor who has not accepted cookies is not measured, anywhere, and the resulting gap in the numbers is an accepted cost rather than a defect.

Advertising is region-scoped. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and wherever the region cannot be determined, advertising requires opt-in. Elsewhere it is permitted until refused, and a saved refusal is honoured.

Global Privacy Control overrides all of this, everywhere. A browser sending that signal is not measured and is not shown personalised advertising, whatever the regional default would have been.

Withdrawing

A decision can be changed at any time in cookie settings, and withdrawing removes advertising already on the page rather than merely preventing the next request. The cookie policy lists each category and how long a stored preference lasts.
