Read the weekly report in five minutes

Separate a price movement from a volume movement, check coverage before trusting a total, and leave with one action.

About 6 minutes. Last reviewed against the product on .

The weekly report is the one page worth opening on a fixed day. This walks through reading it in about five minutes and leaving with one decision rather than a feeling.

1. Start at the bottom, not the top

The totals at the top tell you what happened. The lines underneath tell you why, and the why is the only part you can act on. Read upwards.

2. Separate price from volume

A bill that rose can rise two ways, and they need opposite responses.

The same increase, two different causes

Measured from the weekly report at /app/reports/weekly.

3. Check what is missing before you trust what is there

A week with a failed or skipped import is a week with a smaller bill for a reason that has nothing to do with buying. The report states its own coverage; read that before the numbers.

4. Leave with one action

One. A report that generates six actions produces none. Pick the largest movement you understand the cause of, and leave the rest for next week.

Next: compare two suppliers without fooling yourself.
